Lilya is a professional piano instructor for more than forty years having dedicated her work experience to students of various age groups, starting as early as 4 years old.

Her work experience has involved offering private piano teaching lessons, posts at various schools and colleges such as working as private McGill Music School teacher and as private Royal Music Conservatory teacher. Throughout her career as a pianist, she has contributed as a voice and violin accompanist as well as held performances at several concerts and recitals across Europe, USA and Canada.

Lilya has pursued her musical studies in Armenia, first at the Special Music School of Tchaikovsky, graduating in 1981 and later on has obtained her Master of Arts degree in the Art of Piano in 1986.

She is a member of the Quebec Association of Music Teachers and keeps herself updated to musical novelties and events nationwide and worldwide.

As a piano instructor, Lilya’s main objective has always been to render each musical teaching experience, whether through individual lessons or to groups of students in a school setting, as joyful and instructional as possible so as to contribute fully to the development of each student’s unique potential. To achieve this goal, individualized and age-adapted lesson plans are used so as to help the student gain self confidence, enhance cognitive development, power of concentration, memory, coordination, imagination, creativity, motivation and perseverance. Moreover, Lilya’s pedagogical piano skills are mainly focused on using new proven instructional methods based on understanding learning psychology, with special emphasis on teaching techniques such as posture, arm weight, finger-hand exercises. She aims at developing musical literacy in different styles, namely, baroque, classical, romantic, modern, jazz and pop, eventually preparing them for collegial or university appraisal exams as well as for concerts and competitions.
