Yiwei helps students discover their own unique sound and style on the piano, encouraging creativity and self-expression. With a strong foundation in theory and technique, students build the confidence and skills needed to explore music in meaningful and personal ways. Specializing in jazz and improvisation, Yiwei tailors each lesson to the student’s interests—whether jazz, pop, or original compositions—ensuring that making music always feels fresh, inspiring, and enjoyable.

Yiwei holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies from Concordia University, specializing in jazz piano performance. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Music from McGill University, where she focused on classical theory and music history. Additionally, Yiwei has attended the School for Improvisational Music (SIM) Summer Workshop in New York and holds a Professional Certificate in Keyboard from Berklee College of Music.

As an active performer, Yiwei regularly plays in a wide range of settings—from intimate cafés and jazz bars to big bands and community events. Performing live has sharpened her ability to listen attentively and respond with sensitivity—skills she loves passing on to her students, helping them grow into confident, expressive musicians.

Yiwei strives to create a supportive environment where students can learn and grow at their own pace. Having mentored students and led community music sessions that emphasize connection and creativity, she makes lessons a welcoming space where students feel comfortable and inspired to find their own voice. Yiwei warmly welcomes new students of all ages and levels, whether they wish to prepare for performances or simply enjoy playing music for personal fulfillment.
